Sasha's Photos

Warning - Some of the following photos
below can be quite graphic

Dec 30 - First time our 4 Legged Love meets Sasha and determines we must help this poor girl! She's a mess, all swollen, shaved bald on her legs, chest and head, cut, scrapes and puncture wounds oozing and bleeding, her back leg is so swollen you can't even tell where the joints are.

Dec 30 - Sasha cowers in the run at the vet clinic,
not sure what is going on or who to trust.

Dec 30 - Sasha's front left leg has the most damage, the skin is pretty well hanging off and not connected to the tissue underneath at all, her muscles are exposed; she is badly bruise and chewed up. She is on a lot of pain medication at this point so the feeling of pain in her leg is minimal.

Dec 30 - Another of the front left leg. The skin hanging on eventually dies and falls off or has to be removed by Dr. Bajwa leaving a gaping hole in Sasha's leg. The muscle under the skin was clearly visible after all the top layer of skin died.

Dec 30. - Sasha's Right Hock (back leg). It's so swollen you can hardly tell what it is in this photo. It is bright red, bruised and swollen from above her knee to her toes. Dr. Bajwa wasn't sure about this leg and was thinking it may have bone fragment floating in it or may even need to be amputated!

Week of Jan.5th - Right hock again, first week in January, Dr. Bajwa sedated Sasha for a closer look and inserted the drainage tube; the wounds on her inner leg had abscessed. Lucky girl won't lose her leg and it was almost back to normal in 24hrs! Turns out it was just swollen from the fluid build up and with the tube in her leg should be fine.

Week of Jan.5th – drainage tube on inner right leg.

Week of Jan.5th - Sasha from the side looking shaved, skinny and not so great. She is in good spirits though. You can see her pain patch on her side, it slowly releases pain medication to her body, it is the same as what is used on humans. You can see the drainage tube from the back leg and her front leg is wrapped in a honey bandage. You can see how much less swollen her hind hock/leg is and this is only a day or two after the tube went in, the normal color has also returned.

Not camera shy at all.

This is just a cute photo of Sasha

Just lying around on the landing so she can see what's going on in the rec room and in the upstairs area of the house.

Jan. 22nd - We know it doesn't look pretty but this is actually beautiful! Medically speaking that is. This is the inside of the front leg that had been torn to shreds exposing the muscle. This is new cell growth which means the muscles have now been covered and a new top layer of skin will start to grow eventually. Fur is even expected to grow back! Just amazing what the Honey Bandages have done!!

Jan. 22nd - The glossy, red appearance means the new tissue is healthy and there is a good blood supply to it. It is key right now to continue to keep this area clean and safe so that the new cells and tissue aren't damaged. This is actually a great photo and a great improvement from the original torn and exposed leg.

Jan 23rd - You can see some of her fur is growing back in on her head which was shaved bald around her one ear and her legs and chest are getting more fur on them as well. She's starting to look healthier; she has even gained a little weight.

It looks like she is looking up at someone and saying "Huh?"

Sasha's best pal in her foster home is Tia (rescue pup also 6 months old) who is a permanent resident. Sasha and Tia play often, Sasha seems to think Tia smells extra good today.

Sasha playing with Tia, more like Tia goes "splat"
under Sasha's paw, it's all in fun.

For anyone wondering how she is with the other dogs in the home, she is sitting with Lexus (80lbs) and Otis (38lbs), look how nice everyone is behaving for a little tidbit!

Sasha takes a break on the couch after
horsing around with the other dogs.

A visitor stopped by to meet Sasha
and took a few nice photos for us.

You lookin' at me?

Standing with her foster mom, she looks like she is involved in the conversations going on, do you think she is really listening to us talking about her?!

Before and After

First photo - before photo of hind leg, taken Dec.30th, red, swollen, bloody, oozing, it has come a long way as you can see in the next photos

Second and Third Photo - taken week of Feb.9-14th) This is the hind leg/hock that was so badly swollen when Sasha first came in to care, the drainage tube was inserted on the inside of this leg and has since been removed. It has healed up VERY well as you can see!
